As the title implies, this game is meant to be a multi-player. Unfortunately, my friends are even busier than I am, so they aren't around to play with me much (sob). And the one-player option just isn't stimulating at all. The computer isn't fun to compete against under any circumstances, and you absolutely must have four players at all times. So, unless you manage to collect three other people, the computer must play, and it CHEATS like crazy. It will often steal your stars or coins on the last turn, or if it can't do that, it will screw you over in some other way.
Board games are a lot of fun, but I don't think they translate well onto a video game system. Video Monopoly lacks the "spark" of the classic reality mode, and MP suffers the same fate. The mini-games and such are fun, but here they're used as glue to hold an otherwise weak game together. And it doesn't work. Oh sure, Platform Perils is fun the first ten times around, but it becomes old news in a long game session. And a lot of the mini-games require you to rotate the control stick really fast in order to win. The only way I could beat the computer in Tug-of-War was to use the palm of my hand to rotate the stick. I developed an extremely painful sore on my hand as a result, so make sure you don't do that. Nintendo doesn't cover medical bills.
Anyway, this game is all right when you have plenty of people to play it with, but if you have to go it alone, it will bore you and frustrate you to insanity. So, um, don't get it unless you have a tight network of friends who really like to play video games.
