The Golden Sun Fan Fiction Archive's 2007 Spring Writing Contest!
Topic: While this is officially a "spring" contest, parts of New England (where Midnight lives) recently got buried under about three feet of snow. So in honor of the great white north, write a story centered around a blizzard!
1. It doesn't matter if you have the characters trapped out in the snow, wandering around lost and cold, or stuck inside trying to pass the time by counting the flakes out the window. (Just for some examples.) And you don't have to use any specific character or group of characters in your story either. The only requirement is that the blizzard fuels the main plot of the story.
2. Genre doesn't matter either. You can write a drama, romance, comedy, tragedy...do what you prefer. Go wild and be creative!
3. Don't feel limited to a one-shot either. Extra weight will be given to authors that decide to write longer, multi-chaptered stories, as these generally require more thought and work to create.
4. Submit your entry by uploading it to the archive and putting "For the Spring 2007 Contest" somewhere in the story summary, so it's easy to pick out.
5. Entries will be judged based on creative use of the topic (originality) and overall writing quality. That includes technical aspects like spelling and grammar.
6. We can't offer any real prizes aside from recognition, prestige and bragging rights. (We're broke, remember.) However, the winner and the runner-up will both receive special banners to put on their author profiles for the whole world to see.
7. All entries must be submitted in their entirety by May 5th, 2007.
Happy writing!
